Dog Nearly Allows Two Treats on Snout Before Devouring Them

Anchorage, AK—After letting a treat sit on his snout for several unbearable seconds, local Labrador Rupert promptly twisted his head and caught the falling treat in his mouth. His owner, Jacob Jeffries, stood over the dog with another treat in his hand. He’d intended to set that treat on the dog’s snout as well, making it to a record two treats on the snout at once.

Jeffries had seen pictures on the Internet where dogs had allowed dozens of treats stacked on their head, resembling a game of Jenga, so Jeffries assumed it wouldn’t be too hard to do the same with Rupert. Unfortunately, Rupert seems no closer to that goal than he did a week ago.

“I’m a little disappointed,” Jeffries told a reporter shortly afterward. “I really thought this would be the time. It was such work to even get him to let one sit on his snout for a few seconds, but I figured after the first one it would get easier to put on more.”

When asked about his behavior, Rupert was thrilled.

“Oh, I really like treats. Then Master put the treat on my snout, and I savored the feeling for a really long time, then I ate the treat, and then Master was ready with another one right away. Oh boy, I love him.”

Jeffries isn’t ready to give up on his plans, though. “You know, they say Edison failed a thousand times before he made the light bulb, so I guess a few dozen failures is nothing compared to that.”

At press time, Rupert was reportedly snatching the treats out of Jeffries’s hand before they even made it to his snout.
